  Cotton Broker Buried Christ Church Cem. Greenville, SC Theodore Brevard Hayne left the Citadel just before graduation to serve as an officer in the Confederate Army. He attained the rank of Captain, and commanded a battalion under General Johnston at Bentonville when Major Lucas was wounded. He continued in command until the surrender at Greensboro. After a brief exile in Yucatan, he returned to South Carolina and worked as a cotton broker in Baltimore. He retired to Greenville,. South Carolina about 1880.He and his wife are buried in Christ Church Cemetary, Greenville
