Next of Kin listed was Oliva Woods. Hewas a resident of Turlock, Stanislaus County, CA. There was a secondheadstone that said Captain R B Wood, not know if this was a differentperson or not. In 1928 a 45 year old died and was buried, next of kid listed was MyrtleWoods. Oliva Woods was found -- died at age 79 7/29/1944, said to be OaklandResident, no next of kin listed. We were great friends and I missed her sorely. She was very lonely, leaving her parents, to whom she was devoted, and the home where she and her sisters had such a happy time with their young friends. At St. Giles there were few Protestants, so she was happy when they moved near Quebec at Cap Rouge, a lovely place, and later to a farm on the Little River Road opposite the Hossacks. She was near home again, but with a large family to care for and a dairy to manage she had little time for visiting. Some time after Mother’s death they moved to the Eastern Townships near Stanstead, where her daughter, Maggie, now Mrs. Louis Schwab, attended the College. From that place they moved out to Michigan, where my dear sister died when only sixty-four. Several of her eight children are still there near Flint. Went to McGill University for four years, graduating as B.A. in 1891, with honours in Mental and Moral Philosophy, and the Prince of Wales Gold Medal . Entered the medical department of McGill University in 1891, where he pursued his studies for three years, taking the Sutherland Gold Medal at the end of the 2nd year for Chemistry. Owing to considerations of health, he left Montreal for Colorado and completed medical course in Denver, afterwards taking a term as House Surgeon at St. Anthony’s Hospital, Denver, and subsequently having settled in active practice in the country town of Rifle, Colorado, where he has been Health Officer and R.E. surgeon for 17 years (since his arrival) and has also been a member of the Town Council several times.” Walter, the second son, had a still more brilliant record in High School and College, winning manyprizes and honors including the Murray Gold Medal as Dux of the High School, the Prince of Wales Medal in Philosophy and the Sutherland Medal in McGill Medical. Salem Goldworth Bland) LeRossignol Home Laura Harris came to Rifle with her husband, a physician in ill health, and their son, Leslie. After her husband’s death, she stayed in Rifle and provided meals for Dr. Walter LeRossignol; they fell in love and married. This home, built where the original Maxfield cabin stood, has recently been designated a Rifle Hostoric Landmark and is under restoration. Eugenia perkins’ art work is on display here. He and his wife Laura (widowed) married in late 1899 or early 1900. Walter was born in Canada, but took pride in his and his father’s French origins. He immigrated to the United States in 1894 and soon became a U. S. citizen. Walter was a practicing physician and in 1905 owned the building that we have known for several years as the (old) Base Camp Café. According to Rifle Shots, he was the first secretary of Rifle Light, Heat & Power in 1908. This house was built on the Maxfield lot where Abram and Flora Maxfield first had a cabin. To earn passage money to bring his wife, Elizabeth Donaldson Gillespie, and their other children to Quebec, he worked in the William and David Bell Pottery on the south side of Little River. He also farmed for a time near Little River. He then decided to move to Michigan, U.S.A., and the family settled on a farm near Davisburg, where Robert spent the remainder of his life. Following his death in 1871, Elizabeth Donaldson Gillespie lived in the home of her son, Alexander, near Gaines, Michigan. Their children were: Mary Jane, who married William Beasley and continued to live near Davisburg, Alexander, who fought in the Civil War and married his cousin Sarah Gillespie, of Quebec (they settled on a farm near Gaines, Michigan), Elizabeth, who married Franklin Winslow and located nearby in Linden, Michigan, James, who married Bell Greer and moved to Denver, Colorado, Harriet, who married Moses Parker and lived in Scottsville, Michigan, and Sarah, who married William Husted and settled in Iowa. | Gillespie, Robert (I189381)

Frederick (1841-1884), served as a Lieutenant in the 6th Foot Regiment, and as a Captain in the Haddington Militia. Unmarried. • Jonathan Peel (9 Jan. 1844-22 April 1915), married Emily Diana Frances Maude, daughter of Col. Sir • • George Ashley Maude. They had nine children. He was JP of Lanarkshire. and • Sir David Baird, 3rd Baronet (26 Jan. 1832-13 Oct. 1913), who married the Hon. Ellen Stuart, daughter of Charles Stuart, 12th Lord Blantyre and Lady Evelyn Sutherland-Leveson-Gower (daughter of George Sutherland-Leveson-Gower, 2nd Duke of Sutherland). They had six children. • Alice Anne (d. 16 January 1908), married Rev. Hon. Arthur Charles Baillie-Hamilton, son of George Baillie-Hamilton, 10th Earl of Haddington.
