William B. McClain d. in San Antonio, Tx Friday, Feb 27. Fun. serv.were conducted at the home here on Mon. morning by Rev. Mr. Oliphantof Crawfordsville, pastor of Union Church. Interm. at Maple Ridge. Mr.McClain was the eldest son of William H. and Mary McClain. He was b.in Shelby Co Ky Aug 26, 1859. He lived in Ky until age 22, when hecame to Parke co IN Oct 8, 1884 he married Miss Laura E. Boyd. Withher lived a devoted husb. until her death, Oct 6, 1891. To this marrwere b. two daughters, Mary and Essie. The elder, Mary, survives bothparents. Essie d. at age 14 months. Sept 7, 1892 he again marr.wedding Miss Julia Clore. One dau, Bessie was b. to them, who with thewidow survive. About a year ago his health began failing. Tuberculosisdeveloped. In Nov in co. with his wife and youngest daughter and hisbrother, Jasper, he went to Pensacola, Fl in the hopes that a changein climate might prove beneficial. The weather proving unfavorable,after a short say they went to San Antonio. Here he grew much worseand after great suffering, passed away. Mr. Mc united with the BuckCreek Baptist Church in Ky. in his early manhood and at the time ofhis death was a member of the union Church. His faith was sure and hemet death without fear. Mr. McC was a successful farmer, devotingspecial attention to stock raising and feeding. He was widely known asa breeder of Hereford cattle and Shropshire sheep. When his healthbegan to fail he recognized that he had not long to live andimmediately began putting his affairs in order. He left no will andhis property will go in equal shares to his wife and two daughters. Heleaves 3 brothers: John and James who live in Ky and Jasper ofOsborneville, Ill. ?
