William Henry Reed, who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. HenryMiller, 268 Benton street, Monday, and whose funeral was heldWednesday, was a veteran of the Civil War, having been a member ofCompany A, Thirteenth Illinois, Seventeeth Army Corps.
Mr. Reed had lived in Portland about 2 years. He was born June 30,1847. For a time he lived at Kalispell, Mont. Besides his widow, eightchildren survive. They are: Elmer S. Reed and Mrs. Henry Miller,Portland; Mrs. Ira Smith and Arthur Reed, Galesburg, Ill., Riley Reed,New Boston, Ill.; Mrs. George Hippert and Mrs. William Halligan,Boring, Or.; and Mrs. Margaret Anderson, who lives in California."
