Mercedes A. (Graber) Beat, 83, of 4871 S. TR 197, Attica, diedWednesday, April 11, 2007, at the Stein Hospice Care Center inSandusky.
She was born Oct. 12, 1923, in Fostoria, to George and Marvalen(Halfhill) Graber. On Oct. 4, 1947, in Fostoria, she married HaroldBeat, and he survives. They would have been married 60 years inOctober.
Other survivors include three daughters, Christine (Richard) Hillmanof Davisburg, Mich., Marlene Beat of Avon Lake and Charlene (Fred)Bono of St. Charles, Mo.; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Anthony (Dolores)Beat of Bryan, Texas; three sons, Jeffrey Beat of Port Clinton,Gregory (Opal) Beat and Mark (Cindy) Beat, both of Attica; 14grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Graber, and a son,Anthony Beat.
She was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Attica and theAltar Rosary Society. She served as a 4-H adviser for more than 30years. She received the first Irene Martin Attica Fair Service Awardfor outstanding dedication to the Attica Fair in 1993 and the 2001Community Service Award by the Seneca East Young Farmers. She was apast member of the Attica Lionesses and Lions Clubs. She served manymeals at the Knights of Columbus hall and church dinners and the DairyBar at the Seneca County Fair. She assisted her husband on the familyfarm for many years.
A funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 16, 2007, at OurLady of Hope Catholic Church in Attica, with the Rev. Joseph Szybkaofficiating. Burial will be at a later date at Sts. Peter and PaulCatholic Cemetery in Attica.
Visitation is 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2007, at theLindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3085 S. SR 19, Bloomville, where aChristian wake service will be conducted at 8 p.m. at the funeralhome.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Stein Hospice, 1200 SycamoreLane, Sandusky, OH 44870, or to the church.
