- Founder and the first dean, in 1918, of the New Jersey College for Women in New Brunswick, New Jersey. In 1955, the college was renamed Douglass College in her honour.
Victim- A body preserved 30 years in the deep cold waters of Lake Placid was identifield last month that of Mrs. Mabel Smith Douglass,56. Dean of a New Jersey's Women's College.She was last seen rowing on the lake Sept.21,1933. Police said the body,found 95 feet down last Sept.15, was identifield by old medical records. Her husband William Shipman Douglass died in 1916. Her death was ruled accidental.
