- "JONATHAN LEE CLEVIDENCE, was born about 1824 in Jefferson County,Kentucky, and was about nine years of age when his father died. Hebecame a wood-chopper and helped his mother rear his brothers andsister to maturity. He was married to Elizabeth Ann (Greenwell)Sweeney on June 07, 1849, in Bullitt county, Kentucky. She had beenborn about 1824 in Kentucky and was a daughter of Raphael and AnnGreenwell. She was the widow of William Sweeney and they probably hada son, Charles Sweeney, born about 1845. she died in March 1889 inMississippi County, Missouri. Jonathan died about 1865. He andElizabeth Ann had six children: Robert, Laura Ann, Arabelle, Zerilda,Jonathan Lee Jr., and Katherine.
Jonathan Lee Clevidence, Jr. was married to Lula Mae Ruark on July 02,1887, in Mississippi County, Missouri, and they were the grandparentsof Richard Lloyd Clevidence, husband of Geraldine S. Clevidence whohas been most helpful in the preparation of this article. GeraldineClevidence is also a SPARKS descendant and is a great-great-greatgranddaughter of Daniel Sparks (1763-1820), brother of James Sparkswho is the subject of this article. she descends from Daniel's son,Harmon N.
