- HUNTER, Andrew Veteran Coal Valley Feb 28, 1864 Killed by mob, Feb 11,1866 (Mobile, Alabama) (son of Elliott & Catherine WilliamsHunter--Joanna Hunter's brother, wife of Andrew Park)
HUNTER, Andrew Private Coal Valley Sep 18, 1861 Re-enlisted as Veteran(same as above)
Army of SW Missouri: October 1861 - June 1863
Army of the Frontier: September 1862 - June 1863
Army of the Tennessee: June 1863 - August 1863
Department of the Gulf: August 1863 - December 1864
Military Division West Mississippi: December 1864 - July 1865
Department of Texas: July 1865 - May 1866
NOTE: ?A? company was in Mobile, Alabama until July 1865 and then theywere in Texas until May1866. Andrew?s death then possibly occurred inTexas instead of Alabama, but without an actual military record of thedeath it is uncertain.
Edna Park Waller, aewaller@bellsouth.net, had Andrew Hunter as dyingin Mobile, Alabama, but from the general record, Andrew must haveactually died in Houston, Texas after Robert Griffin died in Mobile,Alabama. Without a military record that states that's where heactually died though either place may be right.
What happened about the business with the crowd to cause his death?Interesting and it doesn't sound like a battle situation. It lookslike Company "A" Veterans were in Houston, Texas doing guard duty fromJuly 17, 1865-May 1866. Must be something that happened with therailroad maybe. Well, anyhow, it's interesting.
