A BEAUTIFUL LIFE CLOSED
Mrs. Mabel Reynolds-French was born near Waveland May 28, 1881 anddied at the home of her father near Ladoga on August 10, 1904, agedtwenty-three years, two months and fourteen days. Her death came as agreat shock to the family, and numerous friends, and it is with afeeling of sadness and sorrow that we find we are compelled to recordher death, for we deeply deplore the loss of one so dear. Her demisewas wholly unexpected as she had improved rapidly for a week. Thefamily had not the least doubt of her recovery until a sudden relapsecame. After a few hours of intense suffering God whispered well donetou good and faithful servant and thus she fell asleep in Jesus havingher mind calm and composed until the last moment. She was the eldestdaughter of Lewis and Mary Reynolds and the devoted wife of ElmerFrench. To this union was born four boys, the oldest only about fouryears and two ten days old, for which the now angel mother sacrificedher life. Mabel, as her friends knew her, was naturally possessed ofa pleasant and cheerful disposition, always meeting her friends with asmile and jovial greeting, looking on th bright side of life at alltimes. She became a charter member of the Christian Church at Brown'sValley at its organization, entering immediately into the duties oflife in the church, and until recent years was ever at her post ofduty helping to advance the cause of Christ. In the Sunday school shewas always a willing worker, helping to make it a power for good andit is with sincere regret that one whose life was so pure and usefulas Mabels should be taken out of this great world where there is somuch need of the helpful and good. It is hard to see one so youngstricken down in the bright bloom of womanhood when life's morningseemed the fairest, but the all-wise Father, who alone can unveil thefuture knows best and we would say to the idolizing parents, husbandand two sisters that we know our feeble words of sympathy can renderbut little consolation and that nothing replace your loss. We extendour heartfelt sympathy in this dark hour of your life and pray thatGod will aid you and give you strength to endure the inevitable.There is one comforting thought to reflect upon that she lived in theatmosphere of heaven and its radiant beams of light were reflectedfrom her life int the pathway of many surely if all her friends couldcome and drop one single bud upon her grave, she would sleep beneath agreat avalanche of flowers. The funeral services were conducted byRev, W,H, Brown at the Christian church at Brown's Valley, whoofficiated at the wedding of the deceased but five years ago. Herwhite casket was ladened with flowers by loving hands. A largeconcourse of people were in attendance to pay their respects to onewho will be sadly missed. the interment was at Union near Waveland.
Gone was the life sustaining breath,
But oh, how beautiful was death,
Mortality had passed away,
And there a sleeping angel lay.
