- He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the Inniskilling Dragoons. He purchased Congalton from Sir Robert Murray. His name was legally changed to Robert Rickart Hepburn on succeeding to his mother's estate. He was Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Kincardineshire between 1768 and 1774. [1]
