- Bond to the Will of Benjamin T. Douglas Jr.
Know all men by these presence that we , Hamilton Wade, John Boller, Thomas
Etchington and Archie C. Mathis are held and firmly bound unto the commonwealth of
Virginia in this sum of two thousand dollars to this payment whereof will and hereby to
be made we believe ourselves and each of us on and each of our Heirs, Executors and
administrators jointly and severally ,finally by whose presents sealed with our seals this
26th day of Sept. in the year of our Lord 1844 and in the 69th year of the
Commonwealth.
The condition of the above obligation is such that if the above bound Hamilton Wade
Executor of the last will of Benjamin T. Douglas, deceased does make or cause to be
made a true and perfect Inventory of all and singular these goods chattels and credits of
the said deceased which have or shall come to the hand possession or knowledge of him
the said Hamilton Wade or in the hands or possession of any other person or persons for
him and the same do make do subscribe or cause to be subscribed into the Circuit Superior
Court of Law and Chancery for Bath county at such time as he shall be thereunto required
by the said Court and the same Goods, Chattels and Credits of the said deceased which at
any time after come to the hands , possession or knowledge of the same Hamilton Wade
or into the hands or possession or any other person or persons for him do will and truly
administer according to Law and farther do make a just and true account of his listings
and doings therein when thereto required by the said Court and also shall will and truly
pay and deliver all the Legacies contained and specified in the said Testament as far as the
said Goods, Chattels and Credits will thereunto contained and the Law shall charge them
this obligation to be void and of us effect or else to remain in full force and virtue.
