- Dr. Ephriam Brevard was brought to North Carolina at age 4. A graduate of
Princeton, he was captured 17 May, 1780 in Charleston. He was author of
the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence and a member of the First
Provincial Congress of North Carolina. See "Sketches of North Carolina"
