Death of the Earl of Morton ? The Earl of Morton died on Wednesday the family residence in Brook Street, London. The deceased, George Sholto Douglas, Earl of Morton, Lord Dalkeith and Aberdour in the peerage of Scotland, of which peerage was representative Parliament, was eldest son of the Hon. John Douglas, by Lady Frances Lascelles, eldest daughter of Edward, first Earl of Harewood. He was born in 1789, and married, in 1817, the eldest daughter of the late Right Hon. Sir George Rose, G.C.H., and sister of the gallant officer now serving with the Bombay army in India. On the death of his grandfather, the fourteenth Earl, in 1827, the late Peer succeeded to the family honours.
