Notes |
- During an eventful life, he was captured at Solway Moss in 1542 and marched to the Tower of London. Subsequently released with his son held hostage, Malcolm at first appeared to support Henry VIII's proposal to marry the English king's son to the infant queen Mary but then changed his position. Prior to his death on the battlefield at Pinkie in 1547, he started work building a collegiate church in Biggar, the last of its kind in Scotland.
