- "I believe that the person whom you have listed as Thomas (7th BaronGreat Constable) de la Haye (died 1406) is the same person that you showas Thomas (Sir) (of Erroll) Hay of Erroll. According to SP 3:561-563,Thomas (Sir) Hay of Erroll, Constable of Scotland, married Elizabeth, third daughter of King Robert II by his first wife Elizabeth Mure. Theirchildren included both William (Sir) Hay, of Erroll, Constable ofScotland, and Alicia, who married William (Sir) Hay of Locharret (orLocherworth). This is confirmed by Weir, at 221-222. As you show,William (Sir) Hay of Locherworth and Alicia Hay had a daughter namedAlicia, and she married Gilbert Hay, son of William (Sir) Hay of Erroll, and by him was the mother of William (1st Earl of Erroll) Hay. SP8:423-427. Although, CP covers only the latter part of this line, itagrees at CP 5:94 that the first Earl of Erroll was the son and heir ofGilbert Hay by Alice, daughter of William (Sir) Hay of Yester, andsucceeded his grandfather William (Sir) Hay on 20 May 1437."
