2nd Lt Archibald Halliday Douglas ("A" Company,9th Battalion, Royal Scots) was killed/died on 16 September 1916 and now rests in the Cite Bonjean Military Cemetery, Armentieres.
Lt A. H. Douglas, along with 2nd Lt F. M. Ross, led a party of 6 NCOs and 27 men on a raid on German trenches on 16th Sept 1916. Lt Douglas was shot dead when the raiding party reached the parapet of the German front line trench. 2nd Lt Ross was wounded but continued to lead the raid which led to the defenders fleeing.
