WAS RICHARDUS MARRIED TO MARIE VERBEEKE. THEY IMMIGRATED HERE ABOUT1912 FROM

Arthur Alphonse Ghys
Arthur Alphonse Ghys Arthur Alphonse Ghys, son of Richard Francis andMarie (VerBeeke) Ghys, was born January 15, 1917, in Atkinson,Illinois, and departed this life July 16, 2007. At the time of hispassing he was 90 years of age. Arthur was a farmer and salesman forVigortone Mineral for many years. He served our country in the Armyduring World War II. He was a member of Christian Businessmen'sFellowship. He was also a member of Central Assembly of God Church inSpringfield, Mo., where he served as an usher and greeter. Arthurtouched a great many lives through not only his church ministry, butalso through his service within the community. He counted hiscustomers as friends and took an active interest in their lives. Asone friend from church recently stated, "We know that when we get toheaven, he will be a greeter at the gates." Preceding him in deathwere his parents, his wife, and two brothers, Edward Ghys and AlphonseGhys. Survivors include the mother of his children, Evelyn Ghys; twodaughters, Sonnet Roth and husband, James, Maryville, Illinois, andBecky Moore and husband, Ron, Springfield, Mo.; two sons, Arthur GhysJr. and wife, Carolyn, Butler, Mo., and Bill Ghys and wife, Eula,Morrisville, Mo.; 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, twogreat-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relativesand friends. Services for Arthur Alphonse Ghys will be held at 2 p.m.Friday, July 20, 2007, at Day Funeral Home, Marshfield, Mo., withPastor David Drake officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn MemorialGardens, Springfield, Mo. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m.today in the funeral home chapel.
