William Douglas, born about 1825, was the son of Lt General Robert Douglas, and Mary Kearsley,


Lieutenant-General Wiliam Douglas, retired, full-pay, Royal Engineers, having stood below Lieutenant-General Oldfield on the effective Establishment of the Corps (of Engineers), to be promoted to the rank of general, under clause 35 Royal Warrant of 14th October, 1858 .

Major-General William Douglas, retired full-pay Royal Engineers to be Lieutenant-General, in consequence of the promotion of Major-General Harding, who stood next below him on the effective list of the corps at the date of his retirement. Dated 23rd November, 1858.

He is thought to have died before 10th February 1871.
