Sholto John Douglas, 18th Earl of Morton

Sholto John, eldest in a line of distinguished sons of George Sholto, 17th Earl of Morton, was born April 13, 1818. 

In 1844 he married Helen Watson, daughter of James Watson of Saughton. Helen bore him a son in 1844 but died in 1850. In 1853 he married Alice Lambton, daughter of John G. Lambton, 1st Earl of Durham. 

Sholto John served as a Representative Lord from 1859 to his death in 1884.
