Roy Douglas was a prominent Liberal activist in the 1960s, standing on five occasions as a Liberal parliamentary candidate.  Formerly a biologist, he is a Emeritus Reader at the University of Surrey and author of The History of the Liberal Party 1895 - 1970 and a dozen other books.
