Lt Col Robert Jeffray Douglas, TD, CMG, (1869-1916) was the son of William and Helen Park Douglas (nee McMath) of Ashlea, Bellahouston, Glasgow. He was known as Jeffray.

On 21st February 1901, Captain Robert Jeffray Douglas, Ashlea, Bellahouston, Glasgow Volunteer Service Company - Scottish Rifles, was appointed a Burgess of Glasgow City Council.

He commanded the 5th Battalion The Cameronians and was killed in action, or died of his wounds, on 3rd July 1916.

He has a memorial in Glasgow Cathedral and in Craigton cemetery. He is listed on the Kilmun and Bellahouston Academy war memorials. His grave is in Bethune Town Cemetery, France.

Obituary from a press cutting:
Colonel R Jeffrey Douglas CMG, who has been killed, was head of the firm, Messrs Robert Douglas and Son, sailmakers and ship chandlers, Plantation Sail Works, Glasgow. He was prominently associated with the volunteer force and succeeded Colonel Roxborough in 1911 in the command of the fifth Cameronians, the old 1st Lanark Rifle Volunteers. He went through the South African War in command of the 2nd Volunteer Service Company of the Cameronians, and was awarded the South African medal with clasp. Colonel Douglas had been on active service since 1914, and some six months ago was mentioned in Sir John French's dispatches and received the honour of the C.M.G. He was unmarried. The gallant Colonel was killed on Monday by a sniper when looking through a periscope.
