James Douglas, 1st Earl of Morton

James, who married Joanna, the deaf / mute daughter of King James I and Queen Joan Beafort, was honored by King James II on March 14, 1457 with the title of Earl of Morton. He established Aberdour Nunnery in 1486. James died in1493.

Their tomb is located in the late gothic choir of St. Nicholas Church, Dalkeith
