A miscellaneous list of sasines.

A Sasine is a Scottish legal document which records the transfer of ownership of a piece of land or building when the land or building is sold or inherited. A Sasine may also record transactions where a piece of land or building was used as security for a loan (like a mortgage).

• 30/Sep/1723 William Douglas eldest son of Robert Douglas merchant and soapboiler in Leith of 1 tenement of land on the east side of the Kirkgate of Leith.  ?This Robert Douglas?
• 14/May/1730 Joseph Douglas of Edrington paid 900 merks Scotts in lands of Soultra.
• 07/Jan/1731 Capt. James Douglas late of the Royal Regiment of foot under the command of the Earl of Orkney of 8000 merks of the lands of Braidshaw & Annalcross.
• 03/Mar/1732 Helen Douglas relict of David Melville shipmaster in Prestonpans and Helen Henderson her daughter and the deceased Ninian Henderson shipmaster in Prestonpans of 1 saltpan, panhouse, Bukelpott, panstand & saltgirnell lying upon the Know called Murks Know in Prestonpans.
• 03/Feb/1724 David Douglas wright in Fisherrow 2 houses & 1/3 yard of 1 yard in Fisherrow.
• 11/Jul/1735 William Douglas son of deceased William Douglas brother German to Walter Douglas late of Baads of 3,340 merks of lands of Baads Easter, Burngrange, Dykehead, Bushun, Aberlongford, Monkle, Harwood.
• 17/Nov/1736 James Douglas tenant in Broxburn of the lands called the West Croft of Kinpunt with house, stables & burn & yard of Linlithgow.
• 31/Jan/1737 Robert Douglas of Cruickston in life rent and Robert Douglas his second son of lands and tenements in & about Inveresk.
