Tuesday 1st July 2014

On this day, we will visit Bothwell and Douglas castles.

In addition, we will stop for photo opportunities at the gates to Bothwell Castle, and the gates to the Douglas estate.

In the village of Douglas, you will be able to vist the Douglas Heritage Museum, which contains a variety of Douglas related historical items, and St Bride's Church, which houses several tombs and memorials of important Douglases.

A short walk away is the remains of Douglas Castle, the memorial to the Cameronians, and a statue of the earl of Angus, who raised the regiment.

The estimated cost, including entry and coach, is £30.

For lunch, you can bring a picnic from your hotel, or visit a local cafe.
