First, I shall tell you what I know about the MacLeans within FinchTownship. Thanks for all your input. It's appreciated because, althoughI know my own line as to where they came from and from which family theydescended, I still have to fill in a lot of details.
FINCH TOWNSHIP, Stormont County, SDG
1) The MacLean family that lived in Moose Creek area descended from abranch in the Isle of Skye.
2) A MacLean family which settled near Berwick(Hill McLean's family)migrated with 'the Selkirk' settlers, first living in Manitoba, thenrelocating to the Plantagenet area north of Finch Township, eventually,settling near Berwick.
3) A MacLean family (from the Isle of Mull, tombstones in the MacMillangraveyard, Lot 19-1 Finch Township)that lived just south east of thevillage of Berwick were ancestors of My Aunt Jenny MacLean(UncleGladstone's wife) through the Patterson family(also from Isle of Mull -tombstones-MacMillan graveyard). Archie Henry at Berwick Village(my AuntJenny's father) descended from this Patterson/MacLean family.from theIsle of Mull. Bella MacLean of this MacLean branch married JohnMacIntyre, a descendant of Dr. William Johnstone, my GrandmotherMacLean's granduncle!
4) A MacLean family from Kinlochaline, Morvern, on the mainland oppositethe isle of Mull, settled at Osnabruck Township(south of Finch)/
5) The Lochbuies(your MacLean family) settled near Berwick.
6) Archibald MacLean of Cornwall(Justice, etc) descended from theBoreray/Torloisk MacLeans(Mull), and were supposed to be 'connected' tomy Goldfield branch of MacLeans(Duart).
6) Goldfield MacLeans: i) Hector MacLean, b. 1824 Isle ofMull(Druimighigha), buried Finch Cem.(tall obelisk).
ii) Peter MacLean(buried Goldfield Cem, Hector's brother, ancestor ofDuart MacLean of Finch.
iii) Lachlan MacLean(my gt grandfather), b. Aug. 8, 1826, Isle ofMull(first cousin to Hector and Peter --i.e. letter from Alex MacLeod,lawyer, in Winnipeg outlining relationship, etc. Buried Finch Cem.,tombstone.(Lot 9-1 Finch)
iv) John MacLean and wife, Flora MacInnes(buried MacMillan graveyard,Lot 19-1 Finch-tombstone)from Isle of Mull, ancestors of Marguerite andVera MacLean(daughters of Malcolm MacLean, Goldfield)who called my mothera third cousin.
There was also a 'Hector' in this MacLean line who was born c 1823(Lot11-1 Finch). I lost my detailed file on Vera's line.
