At his home in Trenton, Missouri on Monday afternoon at six, Jan 8occurred the death of Adam Vancleave, a former resident of MontgomeryCounty. His death was caused by apoplexy and he had been ill for 3days. Mr. VanCleave will be remembered by a great many of the olderresidences in the south part of the county. He was born two miles westof New Market 71 years ago and was a son of Jonathan and ElizabethVancleave. His mother die din 1886. Jonathan Vancleave, his father wasa noted minister of the Primitive Baptist Church and was known by mosteery citizen of the county. The death of this noted elder occurred 12years ago. Adam Vancleave was a resident of this county until theclose of the civil war at which time he moved to Missouri. He wasmarried to Miss Ellen McConnell at Trenton, Missouri in 1868. Aftertaking up his residence in Missouri, mr. Vancleave followedrailroading. He gave up that work a year ago and had since resided onhis farm. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias. Besides his wifehe is survived by the following children: Jonathan VanCleave ofAshland, Nb; Mrs. Nora Gelke of Antigo, WI; Stephen Vancleave, MissLizzie Vancleave, Mrs. Edith Keith of Trenton, Mo; William Vancleaveresiding on the farm. He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. EmilyBadgley of Cadillac, Mich; Mrs. Jane Coons of this city and onebrother, Ransom Vancleave who resides near New Market. The funeral washeld at Trenton on Wednesday afternoon Jan 10 and was conducted byRev. Mr. Miller. Interment was made in the Knights of PythiasCemetery. File Created: 2007-Feb-11"
