- (Research):Louisa Douglas 'definitely' married John Norris, owner of Hughenden Manor Buckinghamshire. Her marriage to John was recorded on 18 Dec 1798 at Saint Clement Danes, Westminster, London, England. The baptisms of all nine children are recorded at Yateley parish Hampshire. Seven daughters survived, all marrying into families with good connections. Two families (Young and Vincent) were Baronets, Others had military backgrounds, Others (including Gray) were from ecclesiastical backgrounds. One daughter (Blanch) was courted by Benjamin Disraeli when they were young and they planned to marry. This particular story has been passed down by family members. recorded by Ursula Norris in 1966. John (the father) put a stop to it. Disraeli went on to buy Hughenden Manor after John's death. Wealth in this family appears to come from Merchants particularly in the clothing trades; Haberdashers, Taylor's Guilds, Mercers and Silversmiths. The Norris family from Norfolk and Savage family fro m London had backgrounds as merchants in cloth. Established families educated their children who went on to become clerics and occasionally lawyers. After that Louisa's descendants disbursed (?dispersed) around the world. Some remained locally, many others went to the colonies seeking adventure and new wealth. Known descendants are in South Africa, New Zealand, Australia and Canada as well as the many who remained in England.
