FREDERICK ROWLAND DICKEN, Esquire, Post Captain R.N. (retired). Born Sept. 13, 1845, being the second but eldest surviving son of the late Rev. Aldersey Dicken, by his wife Caroline Mary, fourth dau. of George Huddleston (formerly Croft) of Greenford, co. Middlesex.
Armorial bearings '97 Argent, gutt^e-de-poix, on a cross flory sable, between four leopards' faces jessant-de-lis gules, a cross flory or. Mantling sable and argent.
Crest '97 On a wreath of the colours, upon a rock proper, a lion sejant sable, guttfe-d'or, gorged with a collar or, supporting with the dexter fore-paw an escutcheon argent, charged with a cross flory sable, surmounted by another.
Motto '97 "Consilio ac virtute."
Married, June 28, 1877, Charlotte Hester, fourth dau. of Rev. James Hardwicke Dyer, B.D., Fellow and Tutor of Trinity College, Oxford, Vicar of Great Waltham, CO.
