Notes |
- In 1579, he was denounced at the Market Cross, in Dumfries, as an intromitter to his father. (he sold his possessions without authority).
There are two possibilities as to what happened next:
a. He moved to Dalkeith and founded the family 'of Morton' who were the portioners of Over Gogar and baillies and chamberlains to the Earls of Morton and Dalkeith.
b. He had a daughter, Beatrix, who married William hamilton of Wishaw in August 1621, who has four sons and a daughter.
