- Admiral Sir Robert Laurie, 6th Bt. gained the rank of Lieutenant in the service of the Royal Navy, in the H.M.S. Queen. He fought in the Glorious First of June on 1 June 1794, where he distinguished himself. He fought in the action with the Ville de Milan in 1805. He gained the rank of Admiral in 1821. He was invested as a Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) on 13 September 1831.
He was unmarried, and on his death his baronetcy became extiinct.
Through his sister, Mrs. Fector, who married into a Hugenot family living in the south of England, the line was continued. The Reverend Sir Emilius Bayley, Bt., who succeeded to the estate, but not the baronetcy, in 1887, assumed the name Laurie by Royal licence. Major-General Sir John Laurie Bt. CBE. DSO. Late Seaforth Highlanders, succeeded in 1936, and he and Lady Laurie lived there until 1966.
