      "Richard Elkins 1786-1815, married Rhoda Stephens 1788-1837, daughterof Francis. in 1806. Pulaski Co., KY. They had Francis, James, Thomasand Mariah. Richard died in the War of 1812. In 1816, his brother,William, married Rhoda and about 1817, moved to the Freetown area.Here Amaziah married Hannah Cummings, Sarah married Jacob Lutes,Stephen married Nancy Collier, Joseph married Tabitha Ferguson, threeother sons and daughters were born. These were believed to be amongthe first settlers here. About 1823, William's parents, Drury ca.1765- ca.1846 and Margaret ca.1766 - ca.1836, and brother Jesse marriedNancy Adams, moved here. Drury's other children were: Rebeccamarried Isaac Shortridge, Martha married Samuel Stogdill; another sonand daughter.
      Thomas 1813-1859 married Rebecca 1813-1856, daughter of SamuelStogdill in 1831. They had Rhoda married Harvey Johnson; Martha"Patsy" married Joshua Tabor; Nancy married William Sullivan Jr.;Richard married Nancy Bush; George; Andrew; Margaret; and WilliamThomas married Elizabeth Sullivan in 1857.
      "Patsy" and Joshua's daughter Matilda married Samuel Hatton, son ofPhillip and Vina. Their son, John Henry, married Ressie Jane,daughter of George and Franes Greathouse. John and Ressie's son,Donald, married Rose Marie, daughter of Albert and Kathryn (Stogdill)Cross.
      Andrew 1842-1909, a Pvt. in the Indiana Volunteers, in Civil War,married Ellen Combs, in 1866. They had Calvin married MargaretRobertson; Vina married Joseph Krebs; and Francis, Ellen died about1875. In 1876, Andrew married Nancy Ellen, daughter of James Williamand Louisa Jane Bush Sinclair. They had William; John Wesley; Andrewmarried Vera Umphrey; Hannah married John Harden; and Margaret.
      John W. 1881-1949 married Martha Jane 1889-1975, daughter of Wilbertand Desthamona Beabout, in 1910. They had Brunette, Kenneth andAlberta. Alberta married Earl Warner in 1933, Brownstown. They hadRaye, Faye, Kenneth-a Marine Sgt. during the Korean War, marriedJanice Dean, daughter of Herbert and Oretha Selby, of Spraytown. Theyhave Nicholas finished 12 years in the Marines, as a S/Sgt. 1987,married Maria Namocatcat, has Kenneth, Janice, Nicholas and Marilou;Wendy married Jack Schryer, has Jackie and Christopher; Christian; andKendale married Maribeth Riggs, has Steven, Nathan and Bethany, andlive at Spraytown. Rody Elkins to 1 cow - $10, Thomas Stephens to 1 mare- $36.25, Benj Van Hook to one colt - $11.25, Wm Elkins to 1 ax andcliver - $1.50, Wm Elkins to 1 oven - $2, Wm Elkins to 1 wheel -$1.34. Amt of above sale $52.72 & 1/2. Rhoda Elkins Admx of the Estateof Richard Elkins.
