Mrs. E.M. Laird for a number of years a resident in Wavlenad who hasbeen in Woodmere Hospital in Evansville for the past two years and ahalf died on Friday. She had a severe attack of pneumonia early in thespring from the effects of which she never recovered. Funeral serviceswere held at Cates United Brethren Church on Monday afternoon. Burialin Harveysburg Cemetery North of Kingman. Mrs. Laird was b in Oct 1867in Parke Co the daughter of William and Elizabeth Clore. Her firsthusband Alfred Shoaf preceded her in death about 24 years ago. She wasagain marr. to W.M. DeHaven who lived only a short time afterward. Shethen was married in Dec. 1918 to EM Laird who survives. She was acharter member of the Nazarene Chruch at Hillsboro. Survivors besidesthe husband who lives in Waveland are her mother, Mrs. ElizabethClore, 92 years old of near Wallace; two daughters, Mrs. June Allen ofCates and Mrs. Grace Crowder of Benton Harbor MI; 3 sons, Omer Shaofof Cates and Elmer & Fred, both of Urbana Ill; 3 brother, Jesse andJames Clore of Annapolis and a sister, Margaret Shoaf of GrangeCorner; 20 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
