- "Tall and slim. Dark hair and brown eyes. Dad held a shearing record at the
York show which was finally broken by his nephew Darryl Hall in the 1980's.
Dad was a driver in the British Army and left with the rank of Corporal. He
served Germany 3 yrs, Cyprus 9mnths during Suez Crisis 1956/57. Service Number
22954557. Shirley, Gillian and Walter immigratred to New Zealnd on the boat
Rangitane in 1966 and farmed in Putaruru and Mamaku until they moved to
