  Elizabeth Mathews was born in 1752. In 1767, she married Captain John MURRAY, who was killed in the Battle of Point Pleasant, in 1774. Augusta County Court records show in Order Book 17, Page 177, that Mrs. Elizabeth Murray, widow of John Murray, deceased, proved service of her husband as Ensign in Capt. McClenachan's Company in Boquet's expedition in 1764 and received a Certificate for 2,000 acres of land. At present it is not known whether or not there were any children born of this marriage.
