The following obituary was found between the pages of the old JB and SM Burleson family Bible. It is in the hands of Harold D. Robinson, Rt. 4 Box 566 Marion NC. (1993) 'Obituary of Annie Riddle' (handwritten by an unknown person) Born June 6th 1875 and died Dec, 7th 1900 age 25 yr 6 mo 1d. She bore her sicness patiently withe no grumbling takling several spell of talking and tell how she enjoyed her religion Earnestly requesting the family all to mett her in heaven and all the neighbors that come in to see her. She would ask them to mett her. She got happy a few days before she died and said she would soon be home wher she would be withe Sammie, Emma and her three little children and spoke of her little girl named Jewel, which she said was a blessed little babe. She said she would soon be withe it where she cold take it in her arms walke the golden streets and shout for ever. She all so said that Sammie and Emma would carry her safe home. Her father then asked her to let him fix her head upon her pilow. She said no, papa, my head is easy now.
It is believed that her reference to Sammie was to brother Samuel, born Feb. 20, 1874, died Mar. 6, 1899, age 25. It is also believed that her reference to Emma was to her sister Emma B., born Mar. 12, 1885 and died Nov. 3, 1900, just about one month prior to Annie.
