      His many petitions convinced the bishop of Quebec City to authorize the completion of the construction of the Parish church and the canonicalerection of the parish of Sainte-jeanne-francoise de Chantal.

      The first marriage to be performed at the new parochial church, on April24, 1786 was the one of Suzanne Leduc, a grand-niece of Jean-Baptiste, with Augustin Lefebvre.
