- CLAN Campbell
A very thorough book on the Campbells
Alistair Campbell of Airds A HISTORY OF CLAN CAMPBELL, VOLUME 1,
The book was published in 2000 and its writing was commissioned by theClan Campbell Education Association, Inc., which was founded by the boardof directors of the Clan Campbell Society (North America). The book isnot only the latest word on the Campbell genealogy but is probably alsothe most authoritative. Generally, the author follows the genealogy setforth in ANE ACOMPT OF THE GENEALOGIE OF THE CAMPBELLS, which wasapparently first published in 1716, but occasionally he points out itsmistakes. It was republished with notes by J. R. N. MacPhail in vol. IIof the HIGHLAND PAPERS, which is found in vol. 12 of the 2nd series ofthe Scottish History Society, published in March 1916.
Volume 2 may now be available.
