    • "They lived near Portland Mills, Parke County, Indiana, perhaps onpart of his father's land. there is no record of land ownershipthere. He is reported to have helped build the first mill dam on theRaccoon Creek at Mansfield. they later lived near Bridgeton, RaccoonTownship in the same county.
      Elizabeth d 23 Oct 1844. George returned to Kentucky and mar (2) 20Jan 1846 in Hardin county, Eliza Irwin, widow, b about 1806 inKentucky. the family was still living there when the 1850 census wastaken. they later returned to Indiana where they lived with dau Nancynear the town of Raccoon in Franklin Township, Putnam county, whereGeorge d June 1879. He was bur in the Skillman Cemetery a shortdistance to the south in Russell Township, where his grave is markedwith a fieldstone. Grandson William T.S. Williams (1866-1947),remembered his grandfather and spoke of the Duree's as "tall, strong,muscular men." Page 140.
