      "Hugh Brown, Sr., probably left the Lancaster, PA area sometime around1770, and was in a large group of families who migrated to NorthCarolina, on their way to Kentucky. Kentucky was a county inVirginia, before it became a state in 1780. Records before 1780 mightbe found in Virginia.
      1789 Jefferson County, Kentucky (Virginia) listed as a Taxpayer.
      Be it noted that a Hugh Brown married Mrs. Mary Cannon 19 Sep 1808 inShelby County, Kentucky.

      In the name of God Amen I Hugh Brown of Bullitt County and State ofKentucky being weak in body but of sound and perfect mind do make andappoint this my Will and testament.
      first I commend my body to the tomb to be buried at the direction ofmy Executors hereafter named and my soul to almighty god who gave it.
      Second, it is my Will and desire that all my just debts shall bepunctually paid, out of my estate.
      Item: I give and bequeath unto my beloved Wife Mary one dutch ovenalso a quantity of thread cotton and flax.
      Item: It is my Will and desire that all the balance of my Estate besold at public auction on eighteen months credit and the proceedsinterest divided among my sons and daughters in the following mannerto wit: my Grand Sons John and Hugh Clevidence to have an equal sharewith my Sons and daughters and all of them to have share and sharealike - and lastly I appoint my trusty friend Rodolphus Buky myExecutor to this my Last Will and testament. Whereby I revoke makeand void and disannul all other former Wills or testaments by me madethis oath (?) to remain in testimony whereof I have here unto set myhand and affixed my seal this 15th day of January 1812.
