      Good evening, Sandy.....................
Thank you very much first, for answering so soon, and secondly, forall of the information.
Our member is Reba Rettos. Her name is mentioned in your information. Reba has all or most of the information that you have supplied; but,we cannot come up with any documentation that "says" Emily is thedaughter of Daniel. (Reba is the source used in the McCoy book by, B.Isabel Lockard)
Do you know Ann Ludington--- who has Daniel and Emily as ancestors?Ann submitted her papers to Ohio First Families and they also rejectedthem as lack of proof that Emily was a daughter of Daniel. Allresearchers show Emily as the daughter, but no one gives the actualdocumentation!
Reba and we have almost exhausted all avenues of research. Reba isgoing to check deeds to see if that would reveal anything, and perhapsa settlement of estates, since we cannot find a Will for Daniel.
Since so many people have researched this family, one would think adocumentation would show up.
I shall make copies of all that you have sent and give them to Reba.
If Isabel Lockard, or her niece, has anything, please let us know.
      Thank you again...........
      Joan
p.s. If we find anything on Emily as the daughter, we will let youknow......"

      E-mail Response from Compiler...Excerpt...
"Well, I do know that on the census records Emily's parents are bothlisted as being from Virginia, which is where both Daniel G. & MaryPolly McCoy Norris were born, and Daniel G. Norris was baptized in theMillfork Baptist Church, where Horace & Emily's son, Edwin, was theminister. It's only circumstantial, but surely there may be a recordat either the church or a land record somewhere that might ferret outthe truth about Emily's parentage. I would think that the marriageapplication record may also have her parents listed. I don't supposethere would be any funeral records or obit hanging around anywhere, maybe??? Would the Millfork Baptist Church, if it still exists, haverecords of some sort of who was buried in the cemetery?? What otherchurches from that time and era still exist in the area that may haveolder records--could any of them be a church where the couple wasmarried at?
Etc...I do also hope that Reba has success with those land/estaterecords, ..." [Transcribed 11 June 2008, SLJuhl, Compiler]

Sandy...................we went through the Millfork Baptist Churchrecords----they had been in Reba's Mother's things. We found thatDaniel Norris, Sarah Norris (assuming this is his Mother), and EmilySenter(assuming she is the daughter) were all baptized on the sameday. Here again it does not say the relationship of either. A deathentry for Mary Polly Norris says she is the wife of Daniel. I can'tremember if there were any marriage records. If I remember correctlyon Emily and Horace Senter's marriage record of 1834 (Coshocton CourtRecords) there were no parents' listed. I really don't think theparent's names were on the official record until later years.
When Daniel died he did not own anything and we are speculating hegave away/sold his property before he died. (He did own property atone time) Maybe one of those deeds may reveal he sold the land to hisfamily, hopefully Emily and husband. Daniel had no Will andsettlement of estates had been looked at but not thoroughly. So, thedeeds and estate settlements are the order of the day/week etc.!
A group read and recorded the cemetery tombstones just this pastSpring and a lady read the cemetery back in the late 40's, early 50's. So, we have garnished that info.
Someone has suggested looking in Muskingum Co. records since it isn'tthat far from where the Norris' lived. (By horse and buggy for thattime period, it was!). A long shot, but may be worth it....
Someone has to have the connection!!!! Joan"
