- Field Marshal Hugh Henry Rose, 1st and last Baron Strathnairn of Strathnairn was Privy Counsellor (P.C.) (Indian. He was County Nairn. He was commissioned as Ensign 93rd Foot (Sutherland Hldrs) but did not enter that regt, joining 19th Foot 6 July 1820 instead (Lt 1821, Captain 1824, unattached Major 1826), Major 92nd Hldrs 1829, Equerry to HRH THE DUKE OF CAMBRIDGE 1830, Lieutenant-Col on 8 June 1820. He was Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) ) in 1842. He was invested as a Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) in 1855. He was invested as a Knight Grand Cross, Order of the Bath (G.C.B.) in 1858. He was Justice of the Peace (J.P.) in 1865. He was Knight Grand Commander, Order of the Star of India (G.C.S.I.) (KCSI 1861) in 1866. He was created 1st Baron Strathnairn of Strathnairn, co. Nairn and of Jhansi, in the East Indies [U.K.] on 31 July 1866.
Title became extinct on his death.
