Born 1829 in the Black Country. Died March 27th 1880.
'In loving memory of Henry PALETHORPE of Dudley formerly of Birmingham who died March 27th 1880 aged 57 years. Also Clara PALETHORPE his beloved wife who passed away June 14th 1910 in her 81st year. Rest in peace.'
Notes: In 1871 Henry PALETHORPE 43, a Butcher was living with Clara his wife 41 at Fair Field Villa, Meriden. There were five sons at home: Walter J 17 also a Butcher (and the only one working), Charley 14, Henry 11, William, 9 & Edwin 7. Polly their daughter was 12 and Fanny WRIGHTON 12, a niece, completed the household. This information does not sit well with the information on the memorial. All the family had been born in and around Birmingham. (C:71) Extant memorial. 57" headstone, double tier base & kerbs.

"Jean SuzannePalethorpe (Susan) married Robin Hood William StewartHastings ...2nd marriage, He was the heir presumptive of the 15th Earlof Huntingdon, family name Hastings....... they had a daughter; Lucinda.Both Robin and the 15th Earl died within weeks of each other, so theEarldom went to someone else.
Susan Palethorpe was the daughter of Henry Palethorpe who was theChairman, Director of Palethorpes Ltd. a meat/sausage manufacturer and atone time they stated they were the largest sausage manufacturer in theWorld.
Henry had a brother named Jack who's daughter was Dawn Palethorpe whorode (horses) for England in the Olympics back in the 1950's.
I am related through marriage to the Palethorpe family. My grandfatherRalph Urwin Bailey married Winifred B Palethorpe and she was a cousin ofabove mentioned Henry..........Winifred was Ralph's second wife, hisfirst wife was my grandmother who died in childbirth with my mother'syounger sister Penelope in 1921"
