Much more research is needed on the family for completion.
      16 January 2007, Tuesday
Indiana research on the Internet web site: www.Ancestry.com
1). Eliza (Elkins) Hamilton died in 1869 in Russell Twp, PutnamCounty, and is buried there at the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. She leftFranklin with six children, and is not in the 1870 census record.Mary Reynolds Elkins Graham is helping the family in the 1870 census.
2). Franklin Hamilton has disappeared in the census records after theyear 1900. He never remarried. There are no obituary nor deathrecords available on the web site for him. It is highly likely thatthe Frank listed on Mother's records in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery-RussellTwp, Putnam County is accurate. This is the twp. and county whereEliza died, and he probably was buried there. Franklin probably diedin Putnam County while living with his daughter Alta and her husbandGeorge Proctor (1900 Census Record).
3). Otto Hamilton never marries and disappears in the census recordsafter 1910. In 1910 he was living with his brother and his childrenin Rockville, Parke County, Indiana. Otto probably died there aswell. However, I'm not certain as to where he was buried. There areno obituary records nor death records available on the web site forhim.
4). Charles is living in Rockville with his children, Parke Countyalong with his brother Otto. His wife has died previous to the 1910census. Charles E. Hamilton could not be found after the 1910Census.
5). Mary Hamilton is 2 years old in the 1860 census, but is not listedin the 1870 census with the rest of the children. Mary was the secondoldest child. The oldest child, Charles was still at home in 1870,and if Mary had been there with the rest of the children, she wouldhave been 12 years old. Mary was too young for marriage, so since sheis not in the 1870 census with the rest of the family, she probablyhas died. I cannot find a marriage record on her either.
6). Winifred M. Hamilton marries James M. Miller 20 Dec 1882 inPutnam County, Indiana.
7). Arizona Hamilton marries William A. Scott in 25 Feb 1886 inPutnam County, Indiana.
8). Alta Q. Hamilton marries George Proctor 10 Mar 1881 in PutnamCounty, Indiana. A son George was added by a birth record to thethree children known of in the 1900 census. Franklin Hamilton andOtto Hamilton are living with this couple in the 1900 census forRussell Township, Putnam County, Indiana.

NOTE THE SUGGESTED VERIFICATION OF THE FAMILY LINE FROM FRANKLIN &ELIZA A. ELKINS HAMILTON TO JAMES MCHAFFEY & HANNAH COCHRAN RAMSAYHAMILTON: ***The guardian records of Parke County show that on 10Nov.1846, Robert S. Hamilton was appointed guardian of (nephews andnieces) Norval, Franklin, Allen, Wallace, Warren, Mary D., and EzekielHamilton, all children of Robert's brother, John W. Hamilton, deceased. (Park County guardianship book 1)." And the Biography forRobert S. Hamilton specifically states his parents are James McHaffey& Hannah Cochran Ramsay Hamilton as well. The Biography of SamuelRamsay Hamilton also provides the same parents names plus, it alsoprovides much more information on the Hamilton Family history. So,with census records and the biographies, the line of Franklin Hamiltonhas been established here in America to his grandfather JamesMchaffey Hamilton of County Tyrone, Ulster, Ireland and to hisgrandmother Hannah Cochran Ramsay Hamilton of Huntington County,Pennsylvania. ---Please refer to Norval Hamilton's biography as well.
