- You may be interested in this extract from pages 134-135 of the book, "AHistory Of The County Of Renfrew From The Earliest Times" by W.M.Metcalfe [comments in brackets are mine and derived from the context ofthe quoted text]:
"The document [dated May 13, 1439] which was in the form of an indenture, was witnessed by John Semple Lord of Eliotston, Sir Robert Semple,Sheriff of Renfrew, John of Colquhoun, Lord of Luss, William ofCunningham, laird of Glengarnock, Patrick Houston of that ilk, John ofLindsay, Laird of Dunrod, Thom of Park of that ilk, John Locart of theBar, John Semple of Fulwood, and many others."
This may be the John Semple that is included in your database at thisposition. If so then it would indicate that he died after May 13, 1439
( I believe that John Sempill, of Fulwood may be my 20th great-uncle.)
