Notes |
- 1 - Suggested by multiple Ancestry.com trees as the Parlane son of Daniel (or Donald) McFarlane and Elizabeth Murdoch who went to India and joined the HEICS. However source The Ancestors of Brian Doig-http://www.doig.net/Ken.html shows this Parlane married, living and dying in St. Ninians which is partially confirmed by his marriage banns being read at both Kilmadock & St. Ninian's Parish churches.
The only 1804 birth (the only identifyer for the Parlane who went to India) of a Parlane in Scotlands People index search is to Parlan McF and Agnes McAllum 19 Nov 1804 in Luss so have reattached that Parlane to them awaiting any further information.-Ed.
2 - In 1851 Parham [sp] was an agricultural laborer at Broadley Collage, St. Ninians, Stirling with wife Margette [?] and son William.
In 1861 Birlane [sp] was a ploughman on Stirling Road, St. Ninians with May and children William, Elizabeth, Agnes, and Daniel.
In 1871 he lived in St. Ninians with Mary and children Elizabeth, Daniel, and Jeane.
Witness to Parlane's death certificate was his widow Mary, who signed her name "X".

3 - Were there two marriages? 1851 he is with Margarette but he supposedly married Mary in 1846. Possibly an error on the part of the census taker as Mary could not write and assuming neither could Parlane. It would help if I could find a birth record for William.-Ed.
