Notes |
- "John Goodwyn of Dinwiddie County, Va., came to the fork of the Congaree
and Wateree some time shortly after the middle of the eighteenth century.
He was accompanied or followed by all, it appears, of his family; the
location of his home is not known. His son Jesse had a plat of 250 acres
of land certified in 1758 in the 'low ground opposite Saxe Gotha' not far
below Mill Creek. Jesse Goodwyn married Martha Raiford, daughter of
Philip Raiford (II), who in her will, made January 31, 1772, mentions her
sister, Mary Pearson. He died in 1767." A History of Richland County,
by Edwin L. Green. R.L. Bryan Company, Columbia, SC 1932. "
