- David Lindsay, 5th of Dunrod (d 1521)This is possibly the David Lindsayof Dunrod who is reported by TSP (Elphinstone) to have married, as hissecond marriage but her first, Isabella/Elizabeth Elphinstone (sister ofAlexander, 1st Lord Elphinstone). The article in TSP confuses the issueby saying that that David died before July 1578 but, if this was theright woman, such must be a misprint since it also reports Elizabeth'sthird marriage as probably being in March 1523. HOWEVER, BP1999(Elphinstone) shows Isabella, sister of Alexander, 1st Lord Ephinstone,as having married David Lindsay of Dunrod. This matter is discussed alsounder 'Elphinstone1'.
George Lindsay, younger of Dunrod (who appears to have been disinheritedby his father)

Then under Elphinstone it shows:
((3)) Elizabeth Elphinstone
m1. Peter Colquhoun of Glasgow
m2. (before 05.02.1537-8) David Stewart (brother of Andrew, LordAvondale)
Noting the note just below for Isabella, TSP shows Elizabeth'smarriages as (1) David Lindsay of Dunrod ("dead before July 1578") (2)Peter Colquhoun (3) ("probably in March 1532") Robert Maxwell ofCalderwood ("who was dead before 1 November 1532) (4) David Stewart("before 5 February 1537-8").
((4)) Jean Elphinstone
((5)) Isabella Elphinstone
m1. David Lindsay of Dunrod (d 1521 ??)
m2. (c03.1532 ?) Robert Maxwell of Calderwood (d before 01.11.1532??)
This Isabella is shown by BP1999 (without dates) as daughter ratherthan sister of the 1st Lord. TSP 'combines' her with her sister Elizabethshown just above but appears to accept that there may be some confusionby showing her as "Isabella or Elizabeth". The position is not clarifiedby the fact that, looking at the Lindsay records (which may not becomplete), the only David Lindsay of Dunrod of that period so faridentified died in 1521 (which makes the reference to "dead before July1578" as somewhat confusing). Furthermore, looking at the Maxwellrecords, there are two Robert Maxwell of Calderwoods in the period, oneof whom died in 1531 and the other in 1568. We 'compromise' and show heras distinct from Elizabeth but of this generation because of the dates.
