"...a descendant of Hugh Maclean of Kingerloch (1715-1784) by two of hisdaughters: Mary (died 1831) who married in 1777 Rev Donald Skinner (1747Echt, Aberdeen-shire - 1787 Argyll-shire), and Jane who married JohnMacCormack (MacCormick).
Their children, first cousins, married in 1804 in Pictou, Nova Scotia:Dr. James Skinner (1781 Scotland - 1836 Pictou) and Elizabeth MacCormack(1782 Fort William - 1831 Pictou).
Their daughter Margaret Skinner is my great-great-great-grandmother.
About Hugh's wife, on http://www.gillean.com he married only BeatrixMacLachlan, on the opposite for the traditionnal Clan Gillean referencebooks ( J. P. Maclean, A History of the Clan MacLean, 1889; and A.Maclean Sinclair,The Clan Gillean, 1899.), Mary Stewart was the mother ofhis children. A correspondant who had had the opportunity to read some ofthe Lochbuy Papers, told me that Hugh's wife wrote some of the letters totheir son Murdoch and signs them "Betty McLean" (Beatrix McLachlan). Itseems that there is nothing of the name Mary Stewart in MS sources."
