- Captain Gerald John Ponsonby, 6th Baron de Mauley of Canford was educated at Eton College, Eton, Berkshire, England. He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the service of the Leicestershire Yeomanry. He fought in the Second World War, where he was wounded. He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Royal Artillery.
He graduated from Christ Church College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1941 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.). He graduated from Christ Church College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1947 with a Master of Arts (M.A.).1 He was admitted to Middle Temple in 1949 entitled to practice as a barrister.
He was created 6th Baron de Mauley of Canford, co. Dorset [U.K., 1838] on 13 September 1962.
