Notes |
- He was known as Lord Eskdaill as the eldest son of the Earl of Dalkeith, and himself became the Earl of Dalkeith as the eldest son of the Duke of Buccleuch in April 1884
Played for Marylebone Cricket Club (Main FC: 1881-1885)
Killed whilst stalking at Achnacarry
Note: I am unable to locate Farrochmore Hill, but have located Froach Mor 3kms due south of the head of the loch, is probablly the hill in question
A rumour has come to light that he was not killed in 1886, but in fact was living the high life in South Africa where he had a wife and family. He refused to leave his family in South Africa to come back and claim his title, hence why he was "killed off" in a 'remote forest in Invernessshire'.
